Registering for Classes
  1. Make a note of your registration time ticket. It will be listed at the top of the “Tasks” page of your MyAccount once academic advising begins, which is generally 3 weeks prior to the first day of registration.
  2. When your ticket time occurs, you can select “Register for Classes” which is one of the tasks listed on the “Tasks” page.
  3. Select “Go to the Add/Drop Classes page.”
  4. Enter your PIN number, which you receive from your faculty advisor and select “Submit.”
  5. There are two ways to add your classes. The quickest is to type in the CRNs in the boxes shown below and select “Submit Changes.” If there are any errors or a class is full, the system will notify you and allow you to make changes. You can also select “Class Search,” which functions the same as the Class Search Page, to find the class you would like to add. Check the box next to the appropriate class and then select “Register.”
  6. If you need to waitlist a class, the Office of the Registrar has a video and further information on the waitlist process. You can also contact your Peer Academic Advisor at journalism.peer.advising@biola.edu.

FAQ

How many units do I need to graduate? Can it be done in four years?

120 credits are needed to graduate. The journalism major is 47 units, and the bible minor is 30 units. 120 units can be done in four years with an average of 15 units per semester. The course catalog can give you a more detailed overview of the course requirements.

How do I add a minor or a major?

Major/minor change forms can be found here or in the Academic Advising and Registrar’s Office. The form must be signed by the advisor for the major/minor and turned into the Office of the Registrar.

How do I register for classes?

Bring a list of planned courses to group advising or make an appointment with your advisor or PAA (Peer Academic Advisor). Your advisor will approve your schedule and give you your pin. Once you have your pin wait until your registration time starts, which can be found on your MyAccount. Be sure to have your list of classes, CRNs, and backup options prepared. During your time slot enter your pin and select your courses.

If my classes are full, how does the waitlist work?

Full classes have an allotted number of slots on the waitlist. If you make it off the waitlist you will receive an email giving you a time period during which you can add the class. Always waitlist if possible because there is a chance you could get the class you want! If you don’t make it onto the waitlist you can continue checking to see if any slots open up but it may be best to find an alternative course.

How do I know what classes to take?

The Degree Requirement Sheets can be found at www.biola.edu/registrar. These provide great course recommendations. In addition, utilize the department’s academic advising guide and ask for guidance from your advisor or PAA.
