She trashed her receipt and sat down to enjoy her meal. What just happened?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I asked her what app she used, and she told me about the app she used, Fetch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"538\" src=\"https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-blog-1024x538.png\" alt=\"Blog post headlines\" class=\"wp-image-148\" srcset=\"https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-blog-1024x538.png 1024w, https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-blog-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-blog-768x404.png 768w, https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-blog.png 1277w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The app&#8217;s website promoted Fetch&#8217;s in-house blog, too.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Fetch will give you at least 25 virtual points for every receipt you scan into the website, plus more points with daily rewards. With enough points, you can redeem points for gift cards from brands like Starbucks and Cheerios to L\u2019Oreal and Colgate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Immediately, this seemed too good to be true, so I went straight to the primary source: Fetch.com. With its catchy, complementary colors and vibrant promo video on the homepage, everything seemed too easy. All I needed to do was use the app to save photos of my receipts?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-steps-1024x338.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-149\" srcset=\"https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-steps-1024x338.png 1024w, https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-steps-300x99.png 300w, https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-steps-768x253.png 768w, https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-steps.png 1237w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I kept scrolling through the website, looking for a catch to this deal, or any fine print, but I couldn\u2019t find anything. Not only was the website design attractive, but the steps to get points stayed consistent throughout the whole webpage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-QR-code.png\" alt=\"Fetch logo of dog and QR code with &quot;Scan now to get the free app&quot; beside it\" class=\"wp-image-150\" style=\"width:226px;height:278px\" width=\"226\" height=\"278\" srcset=\"https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-QR-code.png 326w, https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-QR-code-244x300.png 244w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 226px) 100vw, 226px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A QR code at the footer invites users to easily download the app.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe this could really help my wallet, I thought. As I reached the bottom of the homepage, a QR code greeted me, an inviting call to download the app and join the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, I was suspicious. If I got the app and started saving my receipts to this company, what would they do with my information? Why would anyone want to create this app and store information in the first place?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"551\" height=\"548\" src=\"https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-FAQs.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-FAQs.png 551w, https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-FAQs-300x298.png 300w, https:\/\/djam.biola.edu\/hopel3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Fetch-FAQs-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 551px) 100vw, 551px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Fetch&#8217;s FAQ site is easy to access and navigate.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I searched for a button that would lead to an answer, and I found the \u201cFrequently Asked Questions\u201d button at the footer, which led me to a cute pun and a list of dropdowns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I easily found the \u201cWhat does Fetch do with your receipts?\u201d dropdown, which provided a three-sentence quip about helping businesses \u201cunderstand what people are purchasing and when.\u201d That answer alone still seemed too good to be true, so I clicked the link underneath, \u201cLearn about Fetch safety here!\u201d which redirected me to their June 2, 2023 blog post \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.fetch.com\/is-fetch-safe\/\">Is Fetch Safe?<\/a>\u201d with a similar color scheme, but more white space. Obviously, their blog space is more professional than their trendy website, but both felt easy to use. The motions I had used to navigate Fetch.com carried over to blog.fetch.com, and I knew I could trust the website\u2019s information because its posts were relatively current and updated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Did I have a great user experience with Fetch.com? Absolutely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And did I download the app after I skimmed through its safety policy?
