I am a creative.

I am a writer, designer, reader, editor, photographer and podcaster who also loves to scrapbook, thrift, color, collage and spend copious amounts of time on Pinterest.

In my teenage years, I wrote poems in my journal or let my sentences guide me on a word processor. While I have a myriad of hobbies and interests, I have spent most of my time and energy in undergrad developing my writing skills. I recently graduated and am excited for opportunities to exercise the skills I learned in college in the work force.

Being a journalism student pushed me to write in ways I never have before. From writing tight press releases to lengthy features, I have grown my writing skills each semester.

My program focused on creating multimedia journalists. This practically looks like I am trained to write copy for newspapers, magazines, TV and blogs. I can operate a camera and edit a package as well as deliver to camera. I have spent a semester learning how to make data visualizations, as well as studying a city and how it operates and covering its events.

I hosted and produced a podcast covering women’s issues with my job at my college’s women’s resource. I spent a lot of time editing audio on Adobe Audition as well as proofing and editing graphics on Adobe Indesign in my role as yearbook editor. I love having my hands full with projects that inspire me.

My favorite part about writing is the process. While the first draft often has its own bouts of frustration, I love the process of coming up with just the right way to say something. I love that writing is never truly finished, even once you publish it. It is something you can always return to and expand and flesh out further.
