Latinas are cracking the glass ceiling by pursuing and earning doctoral degrees. Latinas have been stereotyped as stay-at-home moms, nannies, and trophy wives. Latinas are overcoming societal barriers to earning graduate degrees. With these degrees, they are better equipped to gain advancement in their careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guadalupe Toumayan-Mireles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From the Ranch to Harvard<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guadalupe Toumayan-Mireles is a Spanish teacher at Santa Monica High School. Toumayan came from Mexico to continue her education. She received her doctorate degree in education from Harvard, and in this chapter, she explains how she breaks barriers and overcomes stereotypes in public education in Southern California as a Latina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
