Photoshop work

I volunteered with Biola’s Torrey Honors College for its 2023 and 2024 summer Torrientation to shoot and process photos that would later be used for internal and external communication. This involved shooting a sequence of professional photos for each incoming freshman cohort with a Sony a6400, a tripod and some cardio when I shot the timed group photo of all the student volunteer orientation leaders. During the orientation week, event services at Biola set up lighting equipment to welcome students once school began, so each year I photoshopped the equipment out of the photos.

In 2023, another student volunteer and orientation leader shot two photos per cohort, for nine cohorts and the group of student orientation leaders. In Adobe Photoshop, I processed and edited the photos manually (without using Generative AI) to remove the lighting equipment from each of the photos. I also used Photoshop to include in the photo the student who stayed behind the camera to shoot the picture, and to adjust arms or face placement when necessary, to see each student’s face clearly.

In 2024, we welcomed eight total cohorts, with 14-17 freshmen each, and 4-6 orientation leaders per group. I shot three photos per cohort (nice, funny, nice with orientation leaders) instead of only two in 2023. This time, I used Adobe Photoshop’s Generative Fill to remove the lighting equipment, and used Photoshop to include two orientation leaders who weren’t originally in this shot.

With a ladder and a Sony a6400 with a 28mm lens, I shot group photos for Biola University’s chorale ensemble to be used on its website, social media platforms and posters before their Italy tour in 2023. Three students couldn’t attend the initial shoot, so I used Adobe Photoshop to add them to the photo in post. At the chorale conductor’s direction, I also photoshopped the background of the initial group photo to a more vibrant background of the same location taken on a sunnier day.
